hay all, well, I've been thinking about going mac and I have been considering picking up a mac mini, since it does not require a display. However I've heard that even the mac mini will not run well without a display or there are things that cannot be done without a display connected. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Hi there! Offen smaller computers will not do many things that regular sized ones due to their size and memory. I would see what features this one you are considering getting has and think of what you will be using it for. If you are just going to be using it for going online, then it may be a good fit, but for other things that may take more memory it might not be. Best of luck with eh?

hi, I was not speaking of specifications but about the screen and mac compatibility, as in how well it will run without one and if there are differences.

I have 8 minnies running in a lab on KVM switches so that I can switch from mac to pc and they work quite well. I have heard many say that for a minnie to run eficiently you do need a monitor. I have run them without monitors and no problems so not having experienced this can't say much else. The milage seems to varie from machine to machine and everyones experience seems to be a bit different.

Hello,
I have a friend who runs his mac mini, and basically just uses a DVI plugin which will allow you to plug in a monitor. While he doesn't have to, he has said that the mini will go poof sometimes if you don't plug in the DVI box, which is fairly small. Hope that helps.
